Visiting friends in StuttgartNo, we didn't come to Stuttgart because of the sightseeing! We came to see my good friends from the Institute at Hohenheim castle where I worked during the unforgettable summer of 1998. Gisela, a restless source of jokes, wisdom and emotions had prepared for us a delicious Gulasch and Spätzle dinner, a local specialty. During dinner there was so much blabbering, and I often had to translate, that I was hardly managing to remain tête-a-tête with my own dish. Gisela is a fan of turtles and keeps several aquatic and one land in her house. After dinner we had the priviledge to sleep in the room where the turtles lived. It was a restless night! The turtles were agitated in their fish tank and didn't go to sleep even after we switched off the light. The whole night I could hear water splashing and shells clanking. What was the cause of this agitation? Springtime or the turtle love season? The next morning we said good-bye and drove North along the Neckar river to Heidelberg, where one of the oldest universities in Europe exists. |
